the river the runs dry

A year in the life of the Great Ruaha river, from the arid and deadly oppression of the dry season to the moment when water rushes in and brings everything back to life.

For much of the year everything is locked in a waiting game. Fish, crocodiles and hippos share ever smaller pools while most of the river is simply missing. Then suddenly, with the rainy season, the river returns all at once, a visible surge sweeping at speed along the parched river bed.

The music is a blend of orchestral score and African music.
